On a first visit a friendly office person will ask you to fill out some paper work and will ask if you have insurance. If you do have insurance we will ask to copy your card. We have a few other questions: is this injury related to an accident? is this injury related to work or has it taken place at work? do you have copies of X-Ray or MRI report? would you mind filling out the Privacy Policy?
We will then have you fill out our medical form as this paper work provides us with information we need to know about you and your injury/condition.
Secondly the doctor will see you and discuss some of your problems, what other treatments you have had, what you have been doing and anything else pertinent to your complaint.
Next in order to determine your actual problem the doctor will ask you specific questions about your complaint. Then perhaps he will have you perform some specific tasks related to the condition. In this way he can ascertain which tissues are affected and to what degree.
Once finished with the examination and all appropriate information, patient will generally be provided with his first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical thapies or soft tissue therapies.
Finally and prior to leaving patient will be given instructions on certain activities and procedures to either beigin, continue to decrease at home and/or work. This may include heat or ice application, instructions or exercises or stretches and activities or positions to avoid.
Possibly you will be given a follow up appointment at a time convenient to both you and the doctor. Generally patients receive a follow up in one to two days. Any continuing treatment will be discussed at this time.
